When grilling/pan frying or BBQing a steak the thickness is to be kept in mind. The thicker the steak the longer the cook time. Try using a meat thermometer while cooking. Meat thermometers are inexpensive and easy to use, they will help to let you know exactly when your steak is done to your liking. Refer to the chart below for cook time equivalent to steak thickness.
